This Sunday, November 15th, we will be filling our college care boxes. We send these to all our former youth who are now in college. We fill the shoe boxes with treats, snacks, stuff for taking exams, notes, candy, etc. We have 31 to fill this year, so we need lots of help. Come on Sunday at 6:15 for dinner and then we’ll start filling the boxes. Come write notes to your favorite college students, or write notes to new ones. Help them remember we are still thinking of them while they are at school and we want to wish them good luck on their finals.
See you Sunday!
Gleaning Event Cancelled October 19, 2009
Posted by saraorr in The Blog.comments closed
Our Gleaning Event that was planned for this Sunday, October 25th has been cancelled. The farmers have received too much rain, and the crops are ruined. The Gleaning Network of Texas emailed me to say that the farmers don’t even have anything to harvest, much less for us to glean. Due to all the rain we have had this month, the sweet potatoes are literally rotting in the ground. So say a prayer for these farmers whose crops were ruined. We will hope to help with another gleaning project in the future. So we will have our regular youth meeting this Sunday at 6:00pm. There is no youth choir, but we’ll have a MOVIE NIGHT at youth! Come and eat dinner with us, and we’ll watch a movie on the big screen upstairs. Feel free to bring pillows from home if you’d like to.
See you all on Sunday! Sara

Sunday, O
ctober 25th at 12:30pm
We’ll leave right after church to head toward East Texas to glean sweet potatoes and harvest them for the area food banks and soup kitchens. Wear jeans and closed-toe shoes. You might want to bring gloves as well. We’ll be back around 6:30pm, eat dinner together, and then head home at 7:00pm! Let Sara know if you can go so we have enough vans and trucks. Get your homework done early so you won’t miss out on this fun and harvest-full event!
